Separate margin from position exposure
Illustration only: putting 100 USDT of initial margin behind a 10× leveraged position creates roughly 1,000 USDT of notional exposure. A 1% adverse move in the underlying price corresponds to roughly 10 USDT before fees, funding, slippage and changing margin requirements. This is not a liquidation calculation or a return forecast. Actual contract rules and cross-margin exposure can change the outcome.
Binance explains how leverage can magnify losses and how the exchange's liquidation mechanism works. Check the exchange's current margin ratio and liquidation price for each real position.
Limit the whole account, not only one trade
A small per-trade margin can still produce large aggregate exposure when several symbols are open. Review maximum active trades, leverage settings and available balance together. MW Trader exposes account-level execution settings and can pause new entries; pausing does not close existing positions. Inspect open positions in both the dashboard and Binance.
Do not assume that a displayed unrealized PnL is the final cash result. Entry and exit commissions, funding adjustments and the actual fill price affect the net result recorded after a close.
Stops are tools, not insurance
A stop-loss can define an intended exit trigger, but the final fill can differ in a fast or thin market. Trigger source, order type, liquidity and exchange service state matter. A stop may fail to prevent liquidation. Binance's stop-order explanation describes trigger and execution prices; the automated stop guide applies those distinctions to bot settings.
A practical pre-trade review
- Know the notional exposure implied by margin and leverage.
- Set a maximum number of simultaneous trades you can monitor.
- Check whether optional stops and targets are enabled for the chosen strategy.
- Plan what you will do if the API, network or dashboard becomes unavailable.
- Review the Binance account directly when a close or stop appears uncertain.
No configuration eliminates the possibility of loss. Read MW Trader's full risk disclosure before enabling live execution.
